Understanding rug textures

Area Rugs don’t only come in various patterns and shapes but there are various textures available in the market as well. Texture of a rug is the smoothness of the rug surface and differs when different kinds of threads are used for knitting the rug together. Usually, the texture of the rug is not clear when buying online or through a printed catalogue. This is an attribute that can be best judged in person.

Commonly rugs are woven together by woollen threads. Different colours are used to create different patterns. Cotton is also used to make rugs and these are usually the cheap rugs that we see selling all over the internet and even in local shops. These Rugs can be used roughly in everyday use and do not require too much maintenance. These are the kind of rugs that go best with a casual decor and are most suitable for houses with children and pets, where the rug gets dirtied often and can be washed easily. Wool rugs are also considerably common as these too are quite durable and Cheap Rugs as well. These are the rugs most commonly seen which add an element of warmth and comfort in any room.

However, the more expensive textures are those woven with silk threads. Even gold and silver threads are often used to weave carpets and the rugs which cost thousands of dollars. These are not rugs you can place anywhere as they have a high maintenance required and are best suited for formal waiting rooms and dining rooms which are not used every day and do not face heavy traffic. These rugs are more suitable for bungalows and for a very formal look as these are expensive and should be placed in rooms which need to create an impression of being very expensively decorated.
